What Is Field Remediation and Why Does It Matter?
Field remediation is the process of restoring, rebuilding, or improving an existing sports surface to meet a new or higher standard of performance. For a venue like this, which regularly hosts professional sports games, major concerts, and other large-scale events, the existing natural turf surface must be carefully evaluated and rebuilt to meet the strict specifications for international soccer. This is not simply a matter of laying new sod and calling it done. A compliant natural grass pitch requires precise engineering from the ground up, starting with the sub-base and working all the way to the finished playing surface. The remediation process involves assessing the existing drainage infrastructure, establishing a precise finish grade, and installing high- performance natural turf in a way that creates a seamless, safe, and perfectly even playing surface.

The Sod Installation: Where Precision Meets Performance
Once the finish grade has been established and verified, the project moves into the sod installation phase. Installing natural turf in a stadium of this scale is a massive, highly coordinated operation that requires careful attention to detail at every step.
ASG is consulting on the logistics and execution of the sod installation, with a particular focus on seam management and surface integration. When large rolls of thick-cut natural turf are laid side by side, the seams between each roll must be perfectly tight and flush with one another. Any gaps, overlaps, or uneven edges create potential tripping hazards for athletes and disrupt the true, consistent roll of the soccer ball that these standards require.
Beyond the seams, the sod must be properly rolled and settled into the finish grade to ensure complete contact between the root zone and the prepared sub-base. This integration process is critical to the long-term health and stability of the natural turf surface, especially given the compressed timeline and the intensity of use the field will experience during the tournament.
