Four Fields, One Program: Building Better Baseball and Softball Facilities for Floyd County Schools

A sports field is more than a place where a game takes place. It is where athletes learn to prepare, where coaches build programs, where families gather, and where communities come together to support their schools.

For Floyd County Schools, creating dependable baseball and softball facilities meant looking at more than one field. It meant developing a coordinated renovation program for four high school facilities: Pepperell High School, Coosa High School, Armuchee High School, and Model High School.

Advanced Sports Group was proud to complete the field renovations across the four-school program, helping provide each campus with a finished facility designed around the needs of its athletes, coaches, and community.

A four-field program with four school identities

Although the four fields were part of one broader program, each facility has its own character. Pepperell, Coosa, Armuchee, and Model each represent a distinct school community, with its own colors, traditions, athletes, and supporters.
That identity is visible in the completed aerial photography. The finished fields are not interchangeable facilities. Each one carries the look and spirit of the school it serves, while benefiting from the planning, coordination, and construction discipline required across the full program.
The result is a group of fields that look different from one another but share the same goal: providing a dependable place for students to practice, compete, and continue building their programs.

From early preparation to finished play

A successful sports-field renovation begins long before the final turf is installed. The finished surface is the part most people see, but the long-term performance of a field depends on the work below and around it.
The renovation process included coordinating the necessary site preparation, field construction, base and drainage work, turf installation, infield and warning-track details, and the finishing elements that make a facility ready for play. Each stage had to be completed with the next stage in mind.
That start-to-finish coordination matters on any athletic field project. It matters even more when several facilities are being renovated as part of one program. Materials, equipment, crews, schedules, school operations, and field-specific details all have to move together.
ASG’s role was to help manage that process from the initial field work through the completed playing surfaces. The goal was not simply to install a new surface. It was to help deliver fields that were organized, functional, visually finished, and ready to support daily use and game-day competition.

Building for baseball and softball use

Baseball and softball fields place specific demands on construction and maintenance. The playing surface has to support athletes moving, stopping, sliding, throwing, batting, and fielding. The infield and outfield need to work together as one facility, while the warning track, foul areas, edges, dugouts, and surrounding site all contribute to the way the field performs.
A well-built field also helps create consistency. Coaches and athletes can prepare on a surface that is designed to perform the same way from practice to practice and from season to season. That consistency is an important part of player development and program confidence.
The completed Floyd County fields provide each school with a more dependable setting for practices, games, tournaments, and the everyday work of building a high school baseball or softball program.

The community value of athletic facilities

The importance of these renovations extends beyond the teams that play on the fields. High school athletic facilities are gathering places for students, families, alumni, and local supporters. They help shape the experience of attending a game and give communities a place to celebrate the work of their students.
When a field is easier to use, more reliable, and ready for a wider range of activities, it can support more opportunities. Practices can be planned with greater confidence. Games can be hosted in a facility that reflects the pride of the school. Families and fans can see the investment made in the students who represent their community.
For Floyd County Schools, the four-field program represents an investment in both athletic performance and the broader school experience.

Four finished fields, one lasting purpose

The final aerial views of Pepperell, Coosa, Armuchee, and Model show four completed facilities with strong visual identities and clear field definition. They also show the larger outcome of the project: a coordinated investment in baseball and softball facilities across Floyd County.
At Advanced Sports Group, we believe sports construction is about more than putting materials in place. It is about building quality into the field, building value for the owner, and building facilities that serve athletes and communities for years to come.
We are proud to have been part of this four-school program and grateful for the opportunity to help Floyd County Schools prepare these fields for the practices, games, seasons, and memories ahead.
